Tiuku's story
It took me 24 years to finally have my very own Toller! I first layed eyes on "Susa" (Zeiban's A Red Shot) in -88 and instantly knew -this is my breed!
Tiuku was born in Stavanger, Norway. I came around her breeders (Jorunn) website several years ago and in the Spring -12 I noticed this litter in the making, which led to Tiuku's arrival in Finland at 8 weeks of age.
Tiuku is now 2,5 years old and she has matured into a fabulous Toller girl! She is calmer than an average Toller, she concentrates very well on tasks, is silent, has a natural contact and is a quick lerner. She has a high prey drive and that compensates her sometimes sensitive nature very well. She is very confident out in the field/forest and has learned field work very well. She is good at independent search and water work, but her strength is in nosework and co-operation. After initial challenges, she now takes directions very well and does real nice lines. Spontaneous pick up of certain cold game was a bit of a challenge at first, but now she has a nice firm grip and hold. She is very birdy and very trainable. Her sensitivity comes out in trial situations, when there are strange people around her. This is something we are working to better. She has progressed in obedience work easily. She got a first prize in her debut trial and two other firsts in her next ones and now has an obedience title TK1.
In everyday life Tiuku is calm, very sweet and obedient. Her "big brother" Peikko is her idol and target for her naughtiness! :) As a youngster she sometimes had a little immature reactions without Peikko, but has gained confidence while maturing. She is friendly with everyone, but is sometimes a bit reserved for strangers handling her. Tiuku gets along with all dogs, she is not a pushy type. Being alone at home is natural, no problem with that ever and she has not chewed on anything. Well, except a few pairs of socks! :) She has also always been confident in all kind of surfaces and surroundings. She is totally confident around large farm animals (horses, cattle, sheep, etc.) and I think she could be trained for herding work, she sure has the drive for it. Tiuku LOVES to swim and takes long swim trips by herself at our summer cottage.
Tiuku has a beautiful conformation, she is balanced and typey. She moves with a long stride, lots of reach and drive. She is very musculous, flexible and has animated moves when excited. She has done very well at shows. We are so pleased with our little girl from Norway! <3
